1. What it is. txt is a private research library: a curated collection of reference works, kept as searchable text. Its purpose is to let research rest on sources that were chosen, checked and kept. Answers drawn from it cite the work and the page they come from, rather than relying on memory or on whatever a search returns on the day. It grows by deliberate selection, one work at a time, never by crawling the web. Each work is kept with its bibliographic record, so that what is cited can be traced to a specific edition.

2. Access. The archive is used by its owner alone, who signs in elsewhere on this site. There is no public account, no sign-up, no public catalogue and nothing to download here. Its contents are not published, shared, lent or offered to anyone.

3. Status. txt is an independent, non-commercial project. It does not accept submissions, requests for access or advertising. Nothing on this site is for sale.
